Papa Johns Pizza Abingdon
Welcome to our food review of Papa Johns Pizza Abingdon, a popular spot located at 7 The Square, Abingdon, OX14 5. This establishment is well-known for its pizza, but recent reviews have highlighted significant challenges with both customer service and food quality. Let's dive deeper into the highlights and shortcomings of this local pizza joint.
On the positive side, Papa Johns is a well-recognized brand that offers a widely loved menu filled with various pizza options, including classic favorites and innovative creations. The promise of fresh ingredients and signature sauces has always drawn in fans craving a hearty slice. However, it seems that not all visits to this location end with satisfied customers.
- Customer Service Issues: A common theme across several reviews is the inconsistency in service quality. For instance, customer Thomas Meadows shared a frustrating experience about the staff's inability to accept US currency and the managerial oversight when handling online orders. Such instances undermine the reliability expected of a well-established franchise like Papa Johns.
- Order Delays: Multiple reviews echoed similar sentiments about long wait times. Melissa and Brad recounted their experience of checking back only to find their order was still not ready hours after being promised. This kind of delay can be disheartening, especially when hunger strikes.
- Food Quality Concerns: Customers like Donna Kilgore and Karon Norris expressed dissatisfaction with the food they received. From overcooked cheese sticks to burnt pizzas, the quality does not align with the brand's reputation. As a dedicated regular, Donna's disappointment particularly resonates and raises questions about consistency in preparation and adherence to product standards.
- Overall Value: There’s an underlying sentiment among patrons regarding the value for money. With rising prices and diminishing quality, many wonder if it’s worth spending their hard-earned money at this location.
In conclusion, while Papa Johns Pizza Abingdon has potential with its menu and brand recognition, the recent reviews spotlight pressing issues that need addressing. Customer service, food quality, and timely order fulfillment play crucial roles in enhancing the dining experience. As a food reviewer, it is essential to hold establishments accountable for their service and maintain a standard that customers can trust.
We’ll be keeping an eye on how this location evolves in response to feedback, hoping to share positive developments in the future. Until then, potential diners may wish to proceed with caution, as the balance between craving pizza and ensuring an enjoyable experience remains delicate at this juncture.

We ordered pick up to go around six pm and was given an estimate of about :.We went in to see how much longer food would be and was told our order was at the bottom of the screen. Along with about other customers. They claimed that they had people call in. At : pm we were told more minutes. At : pm our food was still wasnt done. As I'm sitting here writing this there are people waiting in the tiny store front and many more in the parking lot.As a customer waiting over two hours for one pizza , cheese sticks and wings is insane. It's also not my problem people called in. It's the managers.

I always order from Papa John's in Abingdon, VA, and I have for years, but I may be finished after the order I got today. The cheese sticks were so thin you could read through them and they were overcooked. The pappadia is burned and I can't eat it. The driver wasn't particularly nice, but that's what all of us seem to be paying for these days. Bad service, poor quality food and charges that don't add up to the food you get. In other words, yuck!!

If I could give this location a zero, I would.I ordered pizzas on the app around :pm and was given estimated time for them to be ready mins. Latest time to be ready was :pm on the confirmation. I live at least minutes away and made one stop before I went to pick up my order. When I arrived the lobby was busy but it cleared and I was asked for my name for the order. The lady, Shawna, looked over near the oven area and said it was coming up.To make a long story short, the order was “dropped” meaning it was skipped after being told it was coming out of the oven. After waiting almost an hour for my order, Shawna, who was working the place, became hostile and irate with me when I questioned her why I was not informed this earlier. She apologized and said she would give me a discount. She walks to the oven area and realizes one of my pizzas is sitting in the hold area. I said it’s been sitting there all this time getting cold and she said it was heated and staying warm. I was upset by this time and she came back to the register then yelled at me “we are going thru a crises now”. I told her she could not use the crises as an excuse for them not doing their job and skipping my order. At that time she yelled at me and told me I wasn’t getting anything and told me to leave the premises and she was calling the cops because I was now trespassing.Yes, the cops were called and came because of their mistake. But I, as the customer was made the victim! The officer was nice and understood my frustration and just asked that I leave the premises.I will not support this company any longer and hope that no one else has to go through what I did the evening this happened.
